To all prospective applicants, I appreciate that you are taking the time to learn more about us, and I thank you for your interest! We believe that our orthopedic residency program offers a full range of orthopedic training, as well as research and advocacy opportunities.

We expose our residents to a variety of clinical settings from a pediatric specialty hospital to an immersive orthopedic oncology rotation to the outpatient surgical center setting to the inpatient orthopedic service at our primary hospitals, Ocala Regional Medical Center (Level II Trauma Center) and West Marion Community Hospital. Residents will train in a variety of private practice, group practice, and institutional models of physician organizations.

Residents are encouraged to research and support is provided for all of our residents to conduct clinical and basic science research. Institutional support is available to help formulate questions, scan the literature, test hypotheses, analyze data, publish manuscripts and prepare presentations. Residents will compete at state-level resident competitions as well as enter into national conference scholarship awards.

At the end of the day though, residents will work together to shape one of the newest – and soon to be one of the best – orthopedic surgery residency programs in the nation.

I pledge to oversee a residency of dedicated trainees who seek to be ethical, moral, compassionate, and inquisitive. Together we will build something amazing.

Yours truly,

James P. McFadden, MD
Program Director
