It is our mission to provide an advanced education in Family Medicine of the highest quality, combining teaching, clinical service, comprehensive patient care and research, creating academic and clinical leaders in Family Medicine. This residency program will provide the trainee with the proper knowledge, attitude, and skills necessary to prepare the resident to become competent, proficient and professional Family Medicine physicians.
Our cutting edge community-based ACGME residency program is built on the foundation of "bringing 'family' back to family medicine." We pride ourselves on focusing on wellness, community engagement, principles of primary care, professionalism, community oriented and family centered quality health care that focuses on the "whole" person from birth to end of life. Our patients come from multiple walks of life and we teach our residents to recognize/value their unique cultural differences and socioeconomic situations. We aim to give our residents a good education in procedures including OMT. We utilize state of the art technology to provide up to date knowledge in the always-changing medical field. We emphasize evidence based continuity and comprehensive healthcare. We want to give our residents a good foundation into how they could turn research into practice.
The program incorporates a community hospital in a family oriented town. Outpatient training for the 21st century medical practice occurs at Heart of Florida Health Center, a Federally Qualified Healthcare Center (FQHC) and state of the art Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH). Each site offers board certified dedicated faculty who are passionate about teaching. We are part of the graduate medical education consortium between Hospital Corporation of America's North Florida Division and the University of Central Florida College of Medicine and as a result the residency is financially stable.
