Emergency and critical care
Our emergency room (ER) is prepared to handle any medical emergency, day or night. Our board-certified emergency care physicians, nurses and specialists are trained to provide rapid, life-saving care when you need it most.
Our strong emphasis on enhancing care and improving ER processing times has drastically reduced wait times. We offer features like self check-in kiosks and CarePath, a fast track option for patients with less serious illnesses and injuries. Our current ER wait times are posted on digital billboards around Ocala, on our website and by text messaging: ER to 32222. (Message and data rates may apply. For more info, visit our text services webpage.)
For patients who have the most serious medical needs, we offer close monitoring and critical care 24/7 from trained and experienced intensivists and specialists in our Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Our expert gynecologists and women's health specialists provide women's care to meet the healthcare needs of women. In our facility, we offer breast health, gynecologic services and mid-life women's exams—all in a calming, comfortable environment with spa-like suites. Our facility was recognized by Healthgrades for excellence in gynecologic surgery.
Ocala Regional Medical Center is Marion County's only hospital to offer accredited cancer services, having been approved since 1983 as a Comprehensive Cancer Program by the American College of Surgeons' Commission on Cancer. Our oncology team includes cancer nurse navigators to offer support and guidance on your path to survivorship.
A multidisciplinary team of highly qualified, professionally trained orthopedic doctors, nurses and therapists work with patients to relieve joint pain and get them back to their daily activities as soon as possible.
The Orthopedic Joint Care Center at Ocala Regional Medical Center offers various total and partial hip and knee replacement surgery options. The center is the first of its kind in Marion County, offering inpatient rehabilitation and seminars. It is also a designated Blue Distinctions Center® for knee and hip replacement by Blue Cross Blue Shield and is a Joint Commission-certified program for hip and knee replacement.
Neurological care and stroke care
Ocala Regional Medical Center provides neurological care, including surgical and nonsurgical treatment options, for people with conditions affecting the brain, spine and nervous system.
Our experienced neurological team provides life-saving, rapid stroke care. This is why Ocala Regional Medical Center is Marion County's first and only Comprehensive Stroke Center. Our hospital earned this designated from both the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (FAHCA) and by DNV GL Healthcare.
The Joint Commission certified our spinal fusion treatment and recognized our facility as a Primary Stroke Center.
Our highly skilled surgeons perform a wide array of minimally invasive, robotic and traditional surgical procedures to treat health conditions.
Our advanced robotic technology allows for less invasive surgeries. It is being used to treat gynecologic, gastrointestinal and urologic conditions, as well as in general surgery. While our surgeons remain in control of the robotic system at all times during the procedure, this technology allows for greater access to treatment areas and greater precision. For patients, benefits include less scarring, blood loss and pain, which results in a quicker recovery time.
Ocala Regional Medical Center is a designated Level II Trauma Center, the first and only to serve Trauma Service Area (TSA) 6, made up of Marion, Citrus and Hernando counties. At any time, our hospital has trauma surgeons on-site to handle the most complex medical emergencies. We will continue to serve all trauma needs within a 50-mile radius, including parts of Levy, Putnam, Sumter and Lake counties.
Our board-certified urologists treat a wide range of urologic conditions affecting the male and female urinary tracts and the male reproductive system. We screen for, diagnose and treat prostate conditions, including prostate cancer.
The wound care program is a specialized service to heal chronic wounds caused by diabetes, circulatory problems, surgery, traumatic injuries and many other conditions. We offer inpatient wound care services at Ocala Regional Medical Center. Our outpatient wound care services, along with hyperbaric oxygen therapy sessions, are available at our off-site Wound and Hyperbaric Center.
