Ocala Health, an affiliate of HCA, announces the appointment of Chad P. Christianson to the position of Chief Executive Officer, effective June 1, 2016. Christianson has over 10 years of healthcare experience, having served leadership roles under various HCA operations, most recently as Chief Operating Officer of CJW Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia. CJW is a 758-bed tertiary referral center comprised of two campuses, Chippenham (466 beds) and Johnston-Willis (292 beds), which offer destination services across all specialties including trauma services. Prior to working at CJW Medical Center, Chad served as the COO of West Houston Medical Center in Houston, Texas.
As CEO of Ocala Health, Christianson will oversee two hospitals, Ocala Regional Medical Center and West Marion Community Hospital, with a combined 316 patient beds, as well as outpatient imaging services, several primary care and specialty physician practices, a Level II trauma center and a newly constructed free-standing ER that opens later this year in Summerfield.
"I look forward to serving the Ocala and Marion County community and am honored to have been selected to lead such an outstanding healthcare system. It's an exciting time at Ocala Health and I consider myself fortunate to be a part of that," said Christianson. "Ocala Regional and West Marion have an excellent team committed to providing the highest quality service to the communities it serves."
Christianson received his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Florida and earned his Master of Business Administration and Master of Science in Health Administration degrees from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
"Chad's knowledge and experience leading a multi-campus hospital system will be a tremendous asset to Ocala Health," said Michael Joyce, FACHE, President, HCA North Florida Division. "He will be instrumental in driving the organization to continued future success."
