Ocala Regional is a designated Center of Excellence by the American Society for Bariatric Surgeons and has been rated number one in the state of Florida three years in a row by HealthGrades. The bariatric services team provides a complete menu of services to support and assist people undergoing weight–loss surgery. The goal is to help patients improve both their health and quality of life.
Ocala Regional is the only hospital in Marion County to offer accredited cancer services, having been approved since 1983 as a Comprehensive Cancer Program by the American College of Surgeons, Commission on Cancer. The 18–bed inpatient unit provides comprehensive multidisciplinary care to patients and is staffed by oncology trained nurses. The Outpatient Infusion Center delivers outpatient cancer services and cares for over 6,800 visits annually.
Ocala Health offers specialized cardiac services and surgical procedures including cardiothoracic surgery, catheterization lab, non–invasive nuclear cardiology, electrophysiology services, as well as cardiac rehabilitation after surgery. Ocala Health has been recognized for excellence in consistently achieving their door-to-balloon time of 90 minutes or less set by the D2B: Alliance for QualityTM, a program launched by the American College of Cardiology.
Orthopedic Joint Care
A multidisciplinary team of highly qualified, professionally trained orthopedic nurses and therapists work with patients to restore quality of life and get them back to their daily activities as soon as possible. The Orthopedic Joint Care Center, at both Ocala Regional Medical Center and West Marion Community Hospital, offers several different surgical options including anterior approach hip replacement, gender specific knee replacement, custom–fit knee, knee resurfacing and partial knee replacement. The Center is the first of its kind in Marion County, offering inpatient rehabilitation and seminars. The Center is a designated Blue Distinctions Center® for knee and hip replacement by Blue Cross Blue Shield and is a Joint Commission certified program for hip and knee.
Ocala Regional Medical Center serves those needing surgical and non-surgical treatment options for various neurological disorders. The neurosciences team incorporates neurosurgeons, neurologists, nurses, therapists, dietitians, and case managers to diagnose and treat the needs of patients. Ocala Regional Medical Center and West Marion Community Hospital are certified by The Joint Commission for Primary Stroke and Spine programs.
Highly skilled emergency physicians and nurses, combined with best practices and the latest technology, benefit each and every patient that comes through out Emergency Room. Protocol driven care begins in the field through direct communications with local EMS teams, and meets stringent standards. Our strong focus on enhancing care and improving ER processing times has also dramatically reduced wait times. Our highly–skilled surgeons perform a wide array of procedures using the daVinci®Surgical System. This state-of-the-art robotic technology allows for less invasive surgeries. Benefits of the system include: less scarring, blood loss, and pain, in addition to quicker recovery time and shorter hospital stay. It is being used to treat GYN, gastroenterologic and urologic conditions, as well as in general surgery.
Senior Wellness Community Center
The Senior Wellness Community Center is located in the Friendship Commons at On Top of the World. The Center is home to Ocala Health’s H2U (Health to You) membership program, Diabetes Education Program, as well as various educational classes and seminars and support groups.
Ocala Regional is a verified Level II Trauma Center, having received its designation on June 19, 2014. In addition to serving patients in Trauma Service Area 6 (Marion, Citrus and Hernando Counties), Ocala Regional will continue to serve all trauma needs within a 50-mile radius including parts of Levy, Putnam, Sumter and Lake Counties.
Wound and Hyperbaric Center
The wound program is a specialized service that is dedicated to helping heal chronic wounds. Professional services are available as an outpatient at the Wound and Hyperbaric Center located in Paddock Park Business Center at 3300 SW 34th Avenue, Suite 104, or as an inpatient at either Ocala Regional Medical Center or West Marion Community Hospital. The Wound and Hyperbaric Center treats a number of different types of wounds caused by diabetes, circulatory problems, surgery, traumatic injuries and many other conditions. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is used as an adjunctive treatment for problematic, non–healing wounds that meet specific criteria.
