Joint Care Center

The Ocala Health System Joint Care Center is located at both Ocala Regional Medical Center and West Marion Community Hospital. The Center is the leading provider in orthopedic services performing more joint replacement surgeries than any other hospital in the region. The Center performes the 6th most hip replacements and knee replacements in the state*.

Ocala Health System has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™ for its knee, hip and spine programs by demonstrating compliance with The Joint Commission’s national standards for health care quality and safety in disease-specific care.

BCBS DinstinctionOcala Health System has also been designated a Blue Distinctions Center for Knee and Hip Replacement by Blue Cross Blue Shield. This award is given to medical facilities that demonstrate expertise in delivering quality healthcare.

The Joint Care Center at Ocala Health System is a uniquely designed unit, based on the wellness concept, keeping the orthopaedic patients’ needs in mind.  Patients staying on the units are generally healthy but are in need of joint replacement surgery.  The specially designed wing has spacious private rooms with all the amenities a joint replacement candidate could need including private dining facilities and a physical therapy room. The Joint Care Center at West Marion Community Hospital also has the shortest average length of stay than any other hospital in Florida for hip replacement which means getting you back to the comfort of your home quickly.

Any surgery can be a major undertaking for anyone.  The staff of the Joint Care Center is dedicated to making the experience as positive as possible while maintaining quality of care standards and a commitment to quick recoveries.

A dining and activity area is available for patients and their family members.  Patients are also offered a gourmet lunch for them and a guest to be served in the dining and activity room. Patients are encouraged to wear their own comfortable clothing from home as soon as it's medically possible, and each patient is greeted with a warm smile and a cheerful flower to brighten up the room.

All in all, patients in the Joint Care Center are given the best possible care for those dealing with joint surgeries.

The Team

The Joint Care Center staff is highly qualified. The multi-disciplinarty team consists of board certified orthopaedic surgeons - with over 145 years of combined experience, certified orthopaedic nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, case managers, and licensed dieticians. Together the team works to provide progressive orthopedic care. The patients are integral participants in the team as well. A list of our orthopaedic surgeons appears to the right.

The Therapy

Other patients having similar surgeries are grouped together in the physical therapy room for group therapy sessions.  Physical therapy begins in the morning following surgery.  Family members are invited to observe therapy sessions.  Many patients are able to go home on the day following surgery.
